In July, we welcomed with open arms a brand new Principal Broker, Cherie Dasmacci! Cherie moved to Maui earlier this year and joined the Prudential team to help recruit new talent and grow our Maui office. We asked her a few questions to get to know her a little better...
Where are you from?Northern California – Greater Sacramento area.
When and why did you move to Maui?I moved here January 1 – New Year’s Day 2014. I love Maui and had visited frequently. For more than a decade I knew I would live here one day. I had been working for Keller Williams (KW) in CA and they offered me the CEO/team leader position for Maui, so I took advantage of the opportunity. It did not turn out to be the fit that I hoped, but it brought me to Maui and now I am with Prudential Locations! |

What did you do before you joined the Prudential Locations team?
Immediately before, I was the CEO/team leader for KW Maui. I was with KW on the Mainland as a Broker Associate for four and a half years. I am also a certified coach and trainer with the John Maxwell Team so I did a lot of workshops and seminars as well as one-on-one and group coaching. Prior to KW, I owned my own brokerage that handled both real estate and mortgage.
How would you summarize what you do for Prudential Locations?
As Principal Broker, I am here to help grow the Maui office. In addition to recruiting new talent, I coach our agents on how to grow their business and be more profitable.
What made you decide to go into real estate?
I started out in the mortgage business. My best friend asked me to help her with her FSBO (she didn’t have enough equity to pay a commission) but agreed to let me represent her on her purchase. Apparently I did such a great job she referred me to her coworker who asked me to sell her home and help her find a new one. I had so much fun, I made the switch to the real estate side and have been there ever since.
We know you have goals for the Maui office – tell us where you’d like to see it in five years!
I would like to see us as the #1 Real Estate company on the island of Maui. We will have a team of the most professional, ethical and productive agents in the industry who, more importantly, like and support each other (no prima donnas here)! I would also love to see us have a branch office in the Paia area and perhaps even the West side.
What do you like to do outside of work?
I love to scuba dive and stand-up paddle board. Some days I just like to sit at the beach and enjoy the sun and sound of the ocean waves. I end my days watching the sunset. It’s a form of meditation that brings me back to gratitude.
Let’s say I have one full day to spend on Maui. What do you recommend I do and see?
Wow – one day just isn’t enough! I guess it would depend on time of year and what your interest is. During whale season, taking a boat out to see these amazing creatures up close is unforgettable. If you are adventurous, I recommend the road to Hana. There are several places to stop and take a hike and enjoy the gorgeous waterfalls, rain forests, black sand beaches and so much more. For shoppers, I recommend a day in Paia Town or Lahaina.
What is something most people don’t know about you, but you wish more people COULD know?
This is a tough one. I guess I want people to know I truly value others and have a sincere interest in helping them to succeed. This isn’t just about a job. I have experienced a lot of adversity in my life and overcome a number of challenges. Some people give up too easily and choose to settle into negativity or just surviving. Every situation we face in life contains a lesson and there are rewards and consequences for each choice we make. With the right tools, we can make better decisions and have enhanced productivity, personal growth and a better life. Mindset is a powerful thing. It helps to surround yourself with people who support your goals. When I can be that for someone and have a positive impact, it makes me happy.
