From iconic big-wave showdowns at Waimea Bay to world-class performances at the Banzai Pipeline, the next few months promise excitement, drama and awe-inspiring athleticism.

Waimea Bay Championship / Queen of the Bay
Dec. 1, 2025–Feb. 28, 2026 (conditions permitting)
Waimea Bay
Held at Waimea Bay, near the North Shore neighborhood of Pupukea, this event celebrates the remarkable women who charge some of the world’s biggest waves. When conditions align, competitors will take on towering 20-foot-plus surf in a showcase of skill, courage and pure ocean mastery.
Eddie Aikau Big Wave Invitational
Dec. 7, 2025–March 6, 2026 (conditions permitting)
Waimea Bay
Perhaps the best-known surf event in the world, “The Eddie” also takes place at Waimea Bay. It only runs when the waves consistently reach a minimum of 40 feet during the holding period. Dedicated to the legacy of Eddie Aikau, a lifeguard, big-wave pioneer and hero, this event captures the heart and history of Hawaiian surfing. When The Eddie is on, the entire island pays attention.
Vans Pipe Masters
Dec. 8–20, 2025
Banzai Pipeline, Ehukai Beach Park
The Pipe Masters is synonymous with high-performance surfing at its most intense. Competitors take on the hollow, barreling waves of the Banzai Pipeline. Arguably the most famous surf break on the planet, the Sunset neighborhood is also home to several professional surf company homes, like Billabong and Volcom. Expect fast action, dramatic rides, and some of the most technically skilled surfing of the season.
Florence Pipe Pro
Dec. 10–20, 2025
Banzai Pipeline, Ehukai Beach Park
Sponsored by the legendary surfing family—the Florences—and their brand, this three-day event runs on the best wave days within its window to ensure Pipeline delivers its full power. This World Surfing League contest celebrates one of surfing’s most iconic waves and the community around it, while offering crucial points toward the Challenger Series qualification for both seasoned pros and the next generation of Pipeline specialists.
Haleiwa International Open

Haleiwa Beach Park
The Haleiwa International Open welcomes surfers from near and far to take on the powerful walls of Ali‘i Beach. This long-running event showcases local talent and rising stars while celebrating the surf community in the historic Haleiwa neighborhood.
Da Hui Backdoor Shootout
Jan. 4–16, 2026
Banzai Pipeline, ʻEhukai Beach Park
An invite-only event, the Backdoor Shootout pushes top surfers to perform at Pipeline and its sister wave, Backdoor. With big barrels and heavy drops, it’s a spectator favorite and a celebration of North Shore surf culture.
Sunset Pro-AM
Jan. 18–28, 2026
Sunset Beach Park
Known for its long, powerful waves and shifting peaks, Sunset Beach challenges even the most experienced surfers. The Sunset Pro-AM brings together pros and emerging talents who must adapt to changing conditions and show true versatility.
Pipe Challenger
Jan. 29–Feb. 9, 2026
Banzai Pipeline, ʻEhukai Beach Park
Rounding out the winter lineup, the Pipe Challenger gives aspiring qualifying surfers a chance to prove themselves on one of the world’s most intimidating waves. This year, it's the second-to-last event in the World Surf League's Challenger Series, which will determine qualifiers for the 2026 Championship Tour.
