Celebrating a New Beginning, Hawaiian Style
In Native Hawaiian culture, a pule or ho’okupu, or blessing, is often performed to signify a new beginning, such as moving into a new home or office, opening a new business, or marking other important milestones. A blessing is performed by a kahu, or spiritual leader, and consists of an oli, or chant, and the use of water, salt and ti leaves to cleanse the space and infuse it with prosperity and positive energy.
As a local, or kama'aina, company, it was only fitting that Locations leadership, agents and employees came together in our new office to receive a blessing from Kahu Kelekona Bishaw. This special ceremony capped off our relocation and filled our new space with positivity and purpose.
