Born and raised in Honolulu, Jennifer Li is a local girl at heart. She enjoys water sports, socializing with friends and family, traveling and loves dogs. She is able to speak Chinese-Cantonese fluently. Jennifer's passion is real estate. As a child, she always dreamed of living the American Dream of owning a big house with a yard to entertain. Jennifer attended McKinley High School and graduated shortly after with a Finance Degree from University of Hawaii at Manoa. She has seen Oahu grow over the past 20 years and is an expert on her neighborhood. Prior to her real estate career, Jennifer spent 5 years in the banking and lending industry. During those years she learned to process mortgages, giving her an upper hand now as a Realtor.
Jennifer kicked off her real estate career with Keller Williams Honolulu in 2016 as a full-time Realtor-Associate. Jennifer Li helped to sell my husband’s townhome in Hawaii. If anyone is familiar with the market there, it’s tough because it’s an expensive state and we were worried about the timeline to sell the home and getting a qualified buyer for the price we wanted, in as little time as possible. Jennifer came to our rescue, she went to work for us and got all the necessary paperwork we needed. She staged the home for us and set up showings. Within a couple of showings we got a few offers. She was always professional and made suggestions beforehand so we can get better value for the home. We had many questions during the process and she was always knowledgeable and resourceful at providing answers to our questions. Usually once a realtor makes a sale, they usually don’t have any obligation or commitment to you, that’s not the case with Jennifer because till this day I still contact Jennifer for advice, issues, or questions and she is quick to provide a solution.
She recommended a professional agent in conducting a thorough house inspection and upon discovering a few flaws such as the water heater, appliance defects, and carpet stains; she’s not afraid to put her foot down to obtain a credit back or discount for the buyer. For my house, it was a damaged sink dispenser and an old water heater, she was able to pursue the seller with credit and service. Even after the home was closed out, she’s still willing to go out of her way to ensure my needs are met. Extraordinary customer service is incredibly rare especially in a market with a large influx of competition. Everybody wants to be a real estate agent in Hawaii, but not everybody can be a great real estate agent like Jennifer. We don’t normally take the time to write reviews, but the exceptional service we have received from our Real Estate Agent, Jennifer Li of Keller Williams Honolulu, Hawaii, had compelled us to write this letter.
Professionalism, knowledge, experience, and speed are qualities anyone should consider when searching for a real estate agent. Our agent Jenn had just that and more. Jenn had represented us as a buyer agent in our recent real estate purchase transaction. Although we were not first time home buyers, this was our very first acquisition of a single family home in Honolulu, Hawaii as our new primary residence.
Over the Thanksgiving weekend of 2017, my wife and I had randomly come across an open house in the lower-punchbowl metropolitan area of Oahu. It was a brand new house, built from scratch in 2015. We knew immediately that the location and house itself would meet the needs of our current season of life. So we called Jenn to discuss this opportunity, and within 2 days, Jenn helped us in submitting our offer.
There were multiple challenges throughout the transaction that Jenn helped turn into a blessing in disguise. The first was determining an offer amount. We felt that the original listing price was too high. On top of that, the seller had already received at least 6 other offers before ours. The pressure and competition was on. After Jenn had performed some quick detailed research, and engaged in an initial discussion with the seller agent, we decided to offer $25k below the listing price. Within a short 2 hours thereafter, our offer was accepted (2 hours later that same day). One of the various hurdles we had to overcome was the appraisal. The appraisal value came out $15k lower than the executed purchase price. Our lender could only originate our mortgage loan based on the lessor of the executed purchase price or the appraisal value. We were very discouraged; thinking the door of opportunity would close. We were mentally preparing to cancel the transaction and forfeit our escrow deposit and third party fees already incurred. However, Jenn had quickly encouraged us not to give up hope. Jenn had quickly called the seller agent to discuss and negotiate. Within an hour of Jenn’s conversation, the seller had agreed to reduce the purchase price by another $15k to match the lower appraisal value. This helped in saving us an extra $7k approximately in down payment and closing costs. Overall, instead of losing money as our worst fear, Jenn helped us to save over $40k that we would have otherwise been obligated to pay.
From the beginning to end, Jenn, had guided us, and provided details every step of the transaction. Jenn did not cut any corners, and ensured the purchase agreement and paperwork were properly documented and executed to ensure our safety, protection, and best interests. We were also impressed that Jenn was able to provide an extended network of home inspectors, land surveyors, general contractors, and termite inspection companies. It was nice to know that amidst our busy schedule, Jenn was taking care of our transaction. Jenn ensured that timely communications and processes were handled efficiently and professionally.
Jenn’s love and passion for real estate and helping others truly reflects in her knowledge of the local real estate market, along with her quality of work and attention to great detail. It was evident that Jenn provides multiple options for her clients, keeping their best interests, needs, and preferences in mind. Jenn had worked hard to educate, empower, and encourage us in owning our very first single family home, which provided us the assurance and confidence of making the right decision for this season of our life in raising and growing our family. We closed on this transaction and became official title owners as of Thursday January 11, 2018 and we are very happy with our new home.
